Essential Roles for scrum teams

Product Owner (PO) Responsibilities

  1. Acts as the full-time business representative.
  2. Review the team's work.
  3. Ensures highest value is delivered.
  4. PO is always ordering the work and ensuring the team members clearly understand the details of the requests.
  5. Interacts with skateholders, its not enough to interact with the team members, they must also be in tune with all the changes that are ocurring in the business context.
  6. Maintains the product vision, manages the backlog of work to be done and prioritization of the work items.
  7. Since time and costs are locked, the PO is painfully aware that the work must be continuously sorted to highest value first.
  8. They'll also be pushing the team to complete as much work as possible in each short delivery period.
  9. PO focuses on what needs to be done.

    REMEMBER
The Scrum approach allows the scope to be flexible.

    Scum Master Responsibilities
    1. Protects the team and its processes.
    2. Keeps the team within the guardrails of scrum.
    3. They balance the demands of the PO against the needs of the team.
    4. Keep the team working at a sustainable pace.
    5. Acts as a spokesperson for the team.
    6. They value transparency, so they'll devise charts and boards to share the team's progress with anyone who's curious or interested in how they're doing.
    7. They're also the first escalation point when something gets in the way for the team.
    8. Helps remove any roadblocks.
    9. Scrum Master focuses on how the team does the work.
    10. Holds the team accountable to the product owner.

NOTE: Scrum values sustainability and open dialogue.
